Use your handle, not a numeric profile ID — it stays readable and produces a less dense code.
Why not Instagram's nametag
Instagram’s built-in code is designed to be scanned from inside the Instagram camera. A normal link code is read by any phone camera, which is what you want on anything a stranger sees in the street.
Placement that actually converts
- Window decal at eye height — 15 cm minimum, read from about 1.5 m.
- Counter card beside the EFTPOS terminal, where there is already a pause.
- Receipts and packaging — it travels home with the customer.
- Market stalls — the only way most stalls get found again afterwards.
Give people a reason
A bare square on a window gets ignored. Say what is behind it: “Scan for this week’s specials” or “See the full range”. The caption field in the generator above prints the line underneath the code for you.

How do I make a QR code for my Instagram?

Is this the same as an Instagram nametag?
No. A nametag is built for scanning inside the Instagram camera. A link QR code is read by any phone's default camera, which is what you need for a window, a flyer or a receipt.
Can I link to a specific post or reel?
Yes. Open the post, choose Share or the ... menu, copy the link, and paste it above. The code will open that exact post.
Will the code break if I change my username?
Yes — the link contains your handle, so changing it breaks every printed code. If you rename often, point the code at a link-in-bio page you control instead.
Does it expire?
No. The code here is static: the link is encoded in the pattern and there is no subscription or service that can switch it off.
